Surgery may be planned carefully, but the reality of recovery can still take you by surprise.

You arrive home swollen, uncomfortable and emotional, suddenly questioning everything: Is this normal? Am I doing enough? Am I doing too much? When should I be worried?

ECHO was created to support you through that often-overlooked part of the surgical journey. It brings together clear education, emotional reassurance and practical recovery guidance, helping you feel more prepared before surgery and less alone afterwards.

Why I created ECHO

The idea began when my best friend was preparing for surgery and I couldn’t be there with her during the operation or throughout her recovery. I wanted her to have something she could turn to whenever she felt unsure, particularly during those middle-of-the-night moments when worries can feel much bigger.

I drew on my 20 years of experience as a paramedic, together with my specialist work in post-operative recovery and Manual Lymphatic Drainage, to create the kind of support I would want someone I loved to have.

ECHO has also been developed with input from trusted professionals, including a Chartered Psychologist, Registered Dietitian, breathwork practitioner and rehabilitation specialist. This brings together different aspects of recovery rather than focusing only on the physical results of surgery.

How does it work?

Through clear, easy-to-follow short-form videos, ECHO helps you understand swelling and the lymphatic system, practise gentle breathing and movement, support your body with appropriate nutrition and recognise changes that may need further assessment.

ECHO is not a replacement for your surgeon, medical team or personalised clinical care. It is an additional layer of support designed to help you feel informed, reassured and more confident throughout your recovery.

Because good recovery is about more than simply waiting for your body to heal. It is about feeling supported, knowing what to do and understanding when to ask for help.
